Vermuyden Dutch Pale Ale

Thorne Brewery are pleased to announce our latest "Guest" beer, Vermuyden, which, at 4.7%, is our strongest beer so far!

Head Brewer, Mike Richards, describes it as "A well hopped pale ale... Flavours of lemon, grapefruit and a hint of ginger give way to a clean bitter finish."

The beer is available to order now.

Sir Cornelius Vermuyden

Cornelius Vermuyden was the Dutch drainage engineer who was commisssioned (and later knighted) by Charles I  to drain Hatfield Chase in the Isle of Axholme in Lincolnshire.

The landscape around Thorne and Hatfield Moors owes much of its modern-day appearance to the work of Vermuyden, especially the patterns of narrow strips which still remain.

The name Vermuyden is well known, not just locally, but in other areas of Eastern England, and Thorne Brewery are pleased to dedicate our latest beer to his memory.
